I know "The Best Software Installer" question has been asked before but which installer do you use? I was using Wise for a while and I didn't like it. I switched to Install shield and liked it even less (too bloated) and now I'm using the default installer the comes with Visual Studio 2005.
I could never get Wise to detect if .NET 2.0 was installed, Install Shield was to convoluted but the VS 2005 installer seems very easy and detects everything automatically.
What do you guys use?
I'm using the installer that came with PRO as well. It works just fine for what I need.
InstallShield has to much of a learning curve for me. I just don't like the design/layout of wise.
I thought that the installers that came with computers were fine, I didn't know there were actually programs that did it. Interesting.
Yup, you have to have a program to make an installer. Wise and Install Shield are two of them. I'm sure you've seen both used and didn't realize it.
My installer of choice is NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) - it is open source, free, and very powerful.
I've used NSIS before. It isn't a bad installer at all. There are a couple of other free installers out there as well but I can't remember their names.

That is a free one.
Windows have already installed IExpress. To check it, open "Run" and type "iexpress".
I'm using InstallSimple from RNLogic.
InstallSimple - for your installations
