    A friend's site

I've been helping a friend put together a site for his new business. I've not really got much idea when it comes to design so he's been coming up with what he wants on the site and I've been doing my best to implement his ideas.

At the moment I'm of the opinion that it looks a little cluttered with too much information on the front page. I also really don't like the flags!

Any and all comments welcome and much appreciated

I don't think the flags are so important since they just leads to Google translate but if you want to have them I would suggest fading them out a bit, they're dragging once attention too much now IMO.

Here is what I think (good and bad)
    1. The flags are too big and in the wrong spot. Use the smaller version of them and put them at the bottom.
    2. The menu is cool and the logo looks very nice
    3. I'm not so fond of the red text used on the menu
    4. I think the font needs to change and the line-space needs to be more. Right now, when I look at the page, my eyes are not sure where to go in the content area. There is a lot of text in that area and not a lot of formating where my eyes can stop at.
    5. I like the way it is centered and surrounded by black so you know exactly where the content is.
Overall, the site is very nice. I like it! Well done

I agree whole-heartedly about the size and position of the flags. I wanted language selection to be done through a drop down menu but my friend really liked the flag idea.

The links to Google translate are (hopefully) temporary. Between us we know people to do proper translations of the main languages. French, German and Italian are the main markets in Europe, so they'll be done first.

The logo and menu are the only parts that are 100% my work I'm not happy with the star in the logo, but again it was a temporary measure. Unfortunately we were let down by an artist so it's there to stay for the time being.

The red text in the menu was chosen to match the red star. What colour would you suggest?

Points taken on board about the font and formatting. I'll have a play with it tomorrow and see if I can improve it.
If there's a new way, I'll be the first in line.

looks better, now you can easily see that header, or what to call it.

Oh man, just remove those flags makes a huge difference! Looks so much better. I don't know what to tell you about replacing the red text on the menu, I just think it doesn't fit. The heading to the content is much more pronounced now and visually pleasing. I like how you've added bold sections and wrapped the gift certificates in a box! Payments and Dates also stick out much more, my eyes actually halt there when I scroll down. Well done!!

If you click a flag and then click another flag it gives you a error.

    the functionality is great!
aesthetically though the flags drive me crazy with the gray gradient menu >.< it just doesn't flow.

perhaps you could replace the images with text?
