Hey guys, so I want to make a new site, but it needs to be useful! So id like to get your HONEST opinions... Dont hold back..
Job related websites like monster.com let you upload your website, and only ppl who want to hire you and actually search for you, can find your resume on the site.
Sites like linkedin are pretty much facebook, only with your co-workers on it, and its kinda like a facebook/resume.
I wanted to make a site that you could make and customize a resume on it, and have your own subdomain, you could upload your own css files, or you could use our css files, it would have full contact forms, optional password protected, and user panels to add new sections and subsections.
Here is an example of the end user resume..
Jutins Resume
Its NOT DONE! It has some bugs in it, and it doesnt even have a header on it yet, it will have it so you can add your email, phone number, address, etc, all at the top, just like a normal resume..
So... questions..
- Would you use it?If not, why not?
- What do you think?
- What features do you think it should have to set it aside from other sites?
- What other sites are like this?
Thanks!

No, I doubt I would but that is just me. However, since it is you building it I will probably end up using it. lol- What do you think?
I like the idea. Sounds like a good idea and a good way for people to have a public Resume. A tiny cloud service, if you will.- What features do you think it should have to set it aside from other sites?
Not sure about this one. Are you going to allow people to "network"?- What other sites are like this?
Dice?
No. Ultimately, I can see this having the same problem I had with Monster.com. I had around 2 spam emails a week/month on my email account. Suddenly, after putting my resume on monster, it jumped to 2-10 per day. That, and most of the job offers I got were just stupid. I got a LOT from a NYC teacher head-hunting service. I live in SC, and have no interest in moving to New York (not my cup of tea at all). I continued to get these for over a year after I removed my resume from monster and had gotten a programming job.
It looks nice, but unless the site supports some sort of searching through the resumes directly, I would never use it to try and find someone to hire.
Not sure.
Not sure.
To add to what WP stated for #1: I have my resume on Dice and I checked an option that I wasn't willing to relocate (or it is in my resume or something) yet I still get job offers from other states as well. Perhaps you could optimize the method that allows flesh peddlers to find an employee.
You guys are thinking im making some type of monster.com website, where ppl go and try to find ppl to hire, as well as find jobs to apply for.
This is simply a resume platform, you make your resume, and say you're talking to someone, you dont have your resume handy, you can tell them to go to username.resumesite.com to see your resume.
No spam emails![]()

I can still see the spammers trying to harvest emails off the subdomains.
Email addresses can be parsed and be displayed as images rather than plain text. Although, computer vision is getting pretty good, so I'm sure that is not fool proof any more.
Personally, I'd rather have my resume as a pdf on my website, a single file and if my employers find me, they found me because they wanted me. I believe in what you see is what you get, and if you don't like famousphil.com for my skills and side of a sense of humor, then I probably don't want to work for you.
I doubt employers will find me unless they are looking for me, but my resume is up and I will be entering the job market in another year or two.
I suppose having something like your resume site is nice, but does it really show your true abilities or does it just tell about your abilities?
Lol.. You should fix that.. but it looks goodCode:<title>Jutins Resume</title>![]()
