Seems to be a common problem. You can try running in compatibility mode (works in XP)

I am trying to use your methode to unlock a demo appication to its full version. I have used the W32DASM to search for the phase that blinks when the password and Authentication is wrong. I can't seem to find the words which made me think they are using a call to one of the pictures and not using actual text. I have taken classes in both C++ and in java but do most of my programming with Graphic programming tools for the building automation programs I write so I am very rusty. can anyone help me figure out how to unlock the full version of my app that resides on my PC.

Good day, I do have a slight question for you all and I do see that this topic is slightly out of date. However, i am still confused. I have gotten the address and when i open HIEW i navigate to the exact location and I get the same issue as another member has posted. "HIEW - Read-only error." Now, i did try closing out all of the programs and such (including F.F. which should have nothing to do with it) but it still says Read-only. I have even restarted HIEW several times and re-opened CRACKME.exe.

Now, the part i don't understand is, don't you 'have' to have this running to change the Hex values? How else would you be able to locate and change the values? So, would it not need to be running via HIEW? I don't see any other way that this program is running but only in HIEW. I did try an alternative, (to think outside the box) and since i got the HEX from HIEW, i used XVI32 (hex editor) and tried to overwrite the code there and it says access is denied. So i failed....miserably..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
