Meta Tags

Do meta tags do ANYTHING anymore? I mean, I've heard that they can effect your rankings somewhat in the smaller search engines (which are basically worthless), but do they affect anything else in the rankings? Is it worth adding them? I have some, but I didn't put too much time into it.

They do, but some of the engines don't rely on them as much as before.

I see. I know for a fact that Google doesn't even look at them anymore, I was just wondering about the other search engines.
