how to get a good positon on a search engine

Hi people, this is probably an easy one for you advanced gurus but for me its alittle hazy.

I have a web site called caravan-sites-in-france.co.uk which is fine but i want to get a good position in search engines. I have used search engine submissions sites and it is displayed in the search engines but low down.

The problem i have is say for example i go to google and type in "caravan sites in france" my site is no where to be found, however when i type in "caravan-sites-in-france" its is displayed on their first page, but i dont want this because know one is going to type that in. whats happening? have i done something wrong? is it because of the domain name? can i do anything to change this so when people type "caravan sites in france" into any search engine it appears somewhere.

To get your site listed high for keywords you must have links pointing back to your site using those keywords. For instance, if I were to add a link from CodeCall with the anchor text "Caravan Sites in France" you google rank may increase. The more of these links you get the higher you will rank.

Submitting links on other websites, contacting webmasters to link back to your website, advertising on other websites.. etc.. etc..

You could also submit articles and press releases (which have links pointing back to your site) to article submission sites. Just make sure that your articles are of good quality to ensure that they'll be published.

You should take a well know keywords for the site (that means frequently used keyword on the Google).
You get the links from the Article submission, Directory submission, Online Discussion, Blog Posting, Press Release. These all are helpful to getting the links.

There is lots of SEO process to get the backlinks like Article Submissions, Directory submissions, Forum postings, Press release etc etc.. They all are very good technique to get the backlinks but note one thing you need only quality backlinks means backlinks from high PR site which should be relevant to your site.

First step is On-site. Take care of website in your control and start to do optimization regarding content and keywords including title, description etc...
Then start with Off-site that include many technique but most import is linking.
I disagree with people who say link from only relevant website and high PR site. Link is Link and every link count. For high PR i agree that link from relevant and high PR website is crucial but for SERP every link is import with of course good chose of anchor text.
