Offering $1,000 upon completion of simple program. And $100 per copy sold for life.
I own a small Chicago based company. I have built a special coil winding machine. It is basically a 2 axis CNC type of machine that will wind coils. It uses 2 simple "step motors" to work. I do not want to use a commercially available CNC program to run it. I would prefer it if a programmer, familliar with writting CNC and/or CAD programs, would write the program for me. The program I need is nothing near as complex as typical CNC programs. The one I need is a very stripped version, down to basics. The programming is fairly simple, and I could almost write it myself. I am seeking a partner(s) to help complete it. I am offering the candidate $1,000 upon completion of the software, plus $100 per copy sold. Meaning for each machine sold you will recieve a royalty of $100. If I sell 10 per month, you will recieve $1,000 that month. Market research suggests 10 to 100 sales per month worldwide. I am offering longterm royalty type income. This coil winder is fairly simple. I need a program that can interface with it. The program will be 2 part. The first part is an interface that allows the user to design his coils layer by layer, and or turn by turn in any scatter pattern he wishes. Sounds complex but is very simple to achieve. The user will type in what he wants, and the program will convert it into something similar to CNC G-Code. There can be 8,000 turns typically in these types of coils. And based on user imput a file is created with all varibles for each layer. (Like say, wire gage. Transverse pitch, etc. etc.) I will supply all that type of data. And make things simple by drawing out for you, how the windows should look and function, as well as the varibles hidden. (Note: these instructions will determine the speed of each step motor, for each layer or even turn, changing the winding pattern from neat, wire laid down in smooth rows, to anything, (to change inductance, etc etc.) lets say "scatter wound". The second part of the program runs my machine. We can use any method you prefer. We could use the printerport, like most CNC programs, to send the oscillating signals to the step motors. (Or we could use usb, so long as it can support what we are doing here.) This 2nd half takes the file and creates the coil by sending the step signals to the two motors in real time. One motor turns at one speed. One motor turns at another, based on the varibles, and user imput when the file was created. Layer by layer. Until the coil is complete. My machine has a feedback contact that will send a signal back to pc when the end of coil is reached. This should cause change of direction. When it reaches the other end it will do so again , layer by layer, and each time executing the next set of commands until the coil is complete. There may be say 8000 turns, or say 100 layers to such a coil. I feel it would be easier to go layer by layer, until the contact switch is activated, reversing direction and activating the next line of code for the next layer. Any programmer having worked with CNC before, will see that this is a fairly simple process, and most of the coding for driving the stepping motors can be taken from several open source programs out there. If you have ever written code for robots, (making them move with servo or step motors), you will easily complete this program, as it only involves two motors. And the ability to wind complex coils via multiple lines of executed instruction. Once again I offer $1000 upon completion of project (could take a week to a month depending on your skill level). You will recieve $100 for every sale of this software, which will be bundled with my machine, thereafter. That could translate into 1000 to 20k dollars monthly income for you, and is completly dependent on units sold monthly worldwide. This may be a perfect opprotunity for a starving programmer. I know alot of you post on here. This might be a good source of side income for you. Contact me at Erik_zapfe@yahoo.com |

Hello
My name is Ryan Straight; I’m currently working on a very similar project to yours. The overall idea is a 2 axis stepper motor driven coil winding machine. This is being built for the purpose of reworking LVDTs. We’re at the stage where driver circuitry is being prototyped and work will soon begin on the software interface. This will be written for Windows XP and will communicate via an RS-232 line to a microcontroller based driver. Your design probably uses the parallel port but this only simplifies the project. If this sounds like a possible match for your requirement then please don’t hesitate to email me at rstraight2000@yahoo.com . I would be interested to hear some specifics. Quote:
