Create a ripple effect

When a drop of water drops on a static water, the ripple effect looks so nice! Here we will try to make one with Photoshop. I am using Photoshop 7.


Create a new image with 500 x 500 pixel.

Create a new layer as shown in image.





Fill it with white and Blue gradient color as shown in image.




Go to Filter > Distort > Twirl and set the value to 999 as shown in the image.



Now go to Filter > Distort > Zigzag and set the values as shown in image.



Now your image look like this :



Change any value or color which suit your choice.

You have any idea of making the same effect animated?
Not through the photoshop, are there any ways?
I have seen some animated pictures with this ripple effect.

May be, but I'm not that an expert Flash User to make such an effect. BTW I heard that there is a specific software we can do the animated ripple thing very easily, the problem is I don't remember the name of the software.

Thanks, but don't you know the name of the software, because I want to buy Flash only to create these sort of things. And I'm not that familiar with the software either.
