Making a wheel logo in Illustrator

Ok, guys. Now I am in Illustrator. I personally use Illustraotr 8.0 though it is very old. I feel comfortable using it. You can use any version after 8.0.

So, here is the result i am going to make :

    Steps :

    1. Create a shape like this using the pen tool. Make sure that the legs are straight horizontally. See in image :

We will make a brush with it now. Press F5 to bring out the Brush pallete. Or go to Window > Show Brushes. The Brushes Pallete will appear. Select your shape and drag it to the brushes pallete. You will see a Plus ( + ) sign when dragging on brushes pallete. Follow the image :

    2. Select 'New pattern brush' and press OK. In the next window, press OK again.

    3. Draw a circle using the Ellipse Tool. By holding down 'Shift' key you can make it a perfect round shape. Copy the circle by pressing 'Ctrl+C'.

    4. Select the circle and click on the brush in the brush pallete you have created just now. Your Circle should look like this image now :

    5. Double click on the brush and you will see it's option. We will now change the spacing value. Change it to 40%. See in the image :

    6. Select your shape and go to 'Object > Expand' and press OK.
Press 'Ctrl + Y' to go to Artwork mode. You will see a Circle through the shape. Delete it. Press 'Ctrl + Y' to return to normal view. See in image :

Now press 'Ctrl + V' to paste the circle from the clipboard.

    7. Open the Pathfinder pallete by going to 'Window > Show Pathfinder'.

    8. Select all the artwork you have created and Press the 'Unite' command from Pathfinder pallete (The first one on the first line). Your shape now should look similar to this :

    9. Paste the circle from clipboard again. Double Click on the 'Scale' tool to bring the scale window. Or press 'S' from keyboard and press Enter.

    10. Enter the uniform value of 60%. Press OK.

    11. Select all shapes and rotate the color from Toolbar. Click on the arrow. See the image :

    12. Now, the last step, go to the Pathfinder pallete and press the 'Exclude' Button (3rd on first line) to get the ultimate result.

Tada. You're done. Enjoy making your own logo!
