chatbot with perl

I'm pretty new to Perl ans still learning it, my target is to try and make a self learning chatbot...

so could anyone give me some tips or maybe some links to good tutorials please?

oh, and I have another question, when I place a Perl file onto my webserver, and access it, the computer wants to download it, why is it?

I think the computer wants to download the Perl file, because you don't have perl installed || configured on your server properly.

Just learn winsock and learn IRC protocol.

a few corrections:

1. I program on Linux, so I don't think winsock is somehow connected to me right not
2. I don't want my chatbot for a messenger, I want just a chat bot in a window that I can talk to it...

I fixed the server problem, so it's ok...
