Perl is Dead. Long live Perl.

"Let’s say for a second that Perl actually was dying. Even if that were true, it would be a slow death over years to come. The reason? Businesses have billions of dollars invested in mission critical applications written in Perl that can not be easily replaced."

No way Perl is dying. I've seen it used recently for new projects in thousands of places. I have to agree with this post/article.

    Perl is pretty bad ***....

I don't know it very well, but what little experience I had have with it, it is an easy to learn, and powerful language.

For a scripting language I like Perl. I prefer PHP but we still use Perl quite often here at work I write most of the scripts. I don't see it going away for a very long time.
