    IRC Lecture Times

If you would like to give back to the community you can sign up for a lecture time here. Just post your name with what time you will be online to help others. This includes giving lectures or just helping with general questions. This is just a guide to help members know when people will be online.

Alas, I'm not on with anything resembling a regular schedule.

I don't know what to lecture about that wouldn't be better as a tutorial or blog. What ideas did you have in mind?

Yes, tutorials are always great but lectures are good because they allow interaction. A tutorial only goes so far - but what if somebody needs one to one learning? I believe some people learn much better that way. You might also miss something that you think is understood but the user may not have known it and wont be able to get in contact with you.

When you get done with the lecture you can either post the lecture on the forums or even change it up to make it look tutorialish I guess.

You could just lecture on a part of computing your passionate about. Lecture on a subject you think more people should know about or what people dont seem to understand. Maybe even make it into a series. Maybe get users to understand a program you created.

    Code:
    Basics of [Insert Language Here]
    Importance of Tabbing
    File handling
    Input/Output
    Lists, Trees, Graphs
    GUI
    Encryption/Decryption
    Hash Tables
    Searching
    Sorting
    Database Design
    Basic Query
    Advanced Query
    OOP
    ...

Good idea, posting it on the forum when finished. I'll have to think up something.

    Re: IRC Lecture Times

the participation is low in the irc channel and i doubt this will push the level up much. most people at codecall come just to have problems solved and then leave. all the regulars are in different timezones. but lets see shall we? it would be good to get the channel to have people in it.

    Re: IRC Lecture Times

I will add CC to my auto join list when I login to the server to be present on operator channels I doubt I will do much talking (I rarely talk on any IRC channel), but it will help boost participation

I don't know that you would talk much on that IRC server anyway:

    Code:
    Channel Users Topic
#help 1 [+ntr] You are in the Help Channel. Plea
    #codecall 2 [+ntr] Welcome to codecall's IRC Channel
    #rsnet 2 [+ntr] Drix: THIS IS THE OLD MEN--FAMILY
    #ninetynines 1
    Is the IRC server dying?

    Re: IRC Lecture Times

I will go ahead and start with a lectures. I will just go through some different languages I suppose. I will sign up for Saturdays at 9pm for anybody who needs help.

The time of posting this is 9:13 so if your smart you can see what time I posted this in your timezone at the top of this message and figure out your timezone for it.

    EDIT:
Is editing a post that somebody posted under disabled? I cant seem to edit my timesheet up there... odd.
