Default Linking two networks together

I found a very interesting article about how to link to networks together using a HUB site. If you like your networks directly to one another (site-to-site) you will loose PR value and cheapin the look of your site. Here is an article that describes the HUB link:

Cross-linking, the practice of linking to one site from another, is a valid and useful thing to do when you own multiple websites. It is valuable because it sends both PageRank and traffic from your established sites to your newer sites. However if your sites are unrelated the cross-linking can look spammy and while you'll still get a PageRank benefit you likely won't get as much traffic through the links. Plus if you have many sites having so many external links on your pages might cheapen the look of your website, and Google (or another search engine) may think you're trying to manipulate PR and thus punish you.

You should edit your post and change the subject to read "linking TWO networks" instead of "linking to networks together.

Yes, it is very important that the sites are related. If you have a lot of unrelated sites pointing to you it can really hurt your rankings and PR.

I'm kind of worried because I'm doing link exchanges with a lot of unrelated sites, and I'm afraid it will hurt me. I'm seeing it as "links are links" but in reality that's not true. I'm not going to stop though, no, I need links, more links!

I have done this for many years.

Site 1 -> Site 2
Site 2 -> Site 1

If you have like this.

Site 1 -> Site 2 -> Site 3
Site 2 -> Site 1

That will lower the PR.

---------------------------------------------

now that i have a PR 6 on Site 1, that will give Site 2 a PR 6.
And thats the way it is, no mater what others tell you.

I have made over 35 website in the last 2 years, and all got a PR 6. Good way to sell PR 6 sites

Are you saying if one PR6 links to another site, that site will become a PR6? That doesn't make much sense...

And why does the second method you mentioned lower PR? Explain!

Google goes after a % of what your incoming and outgoing links are thats all.

But every time i did Site 1 -> Site 2 //// Site 2 -> Site 1 it worked fine

I have some networks and Im a bit scared of linking them all together since they are on the same host and same IP
If I put some on different IP's is it safer to cross link?

I don't think that matters, all that matters is that they are different sites. You could try linking them together, and if it doesn't work out, unlink them.
