    Re: Chrome?

The oh-so-good Chrome's V8-engine was beaten in several tests by Firefox 3.1's TraceMonkey recently, so I think I will stick to Firefox for a while. I have tried Chrome, and it was pretty nice (way better than IE), but it didn't really surprise me, or gave me the wow-feeling.

I sort of like the new look but I haven't really used it much. Can you post a link to these TraceMonkey tests?

ill be sure to give it a try then I get back home. I read the browser is capable od multi threading.
From what I read on my phone, Google created the browser to take a stand against Microsoft, to help with their fears of Microsoft "monopolizing" the browser industry.

    Which is understandable, I suppose.
It doesn't help though that most people that have a computer just use whatever web browser is there on their desktop off the start; i.e. - Internet Explorer...

It's kind of hard to reach a new browser to certain groups obviously due to them just not caring about what they use. Whatever works for them.

I did strike me quite odd though that Google decided to just create their own instead of pushing more backing into Firefox...I wonder if their support for Mozilla is going to die out once the contract ends next year?

I wonder the same. Personally, I will never leave FireFox unless their development dies completely or changes into chrome.

I have a feeling that Google created chrome to take a piece of the browser industry and get more revenues. Its really hard saying.

Google has something Netscape didn't: a revenue stream for its browser. Successful platforms share several common attributes. The most important is simple: Third parties make lots of money. Google is the dominant search provider, and search tied to Chrome polishes up the platform for potential development partner adoption. There are buckets of money to made in search keywords and search-driven advertising, and Chrome will be the vehicle.

Seems like you could be on to something.
Whatever, as you said, I won't put the fox down until the day it dies of old age itself.
Plug-in database is just good enough for me to use it in all situations.
Install IETab (to deal with those sites that just HAVE TO HAVE IE...), Ad-Block Plus, and WebDeveloper and your good to go for almost anything right off the start.

    *shrug*

As Randall Munroe would put it...

I didn't realize that Google had a contract with Mozilla. Do you have a link with the contract information by any chance?

This is the most official document I can find regarding the information.

Seems the contract actually ends this year :|

    Re: Chrome?

There are too many remote vulnerabilities in Chrome for me to **** with it right now. That is about the last thing I need....
