It's not supposed to. You cannot actually find the size of the internet by selection properties from an IE context menu.

That's way too small for the internet.

    23,993,564,998 MB
    = 23,993,565GB
    = 23,994 TB
    = 24 PetaBytes

I've been told in the past that the size of the files being shared on Kazaa alone is upwards of 50 PB.

I also heard that if you shaved off all the media (pics, videos, sound etc) you could squeeze the entire internet into 50Gb.

Now THAT is interesting. I have trouble believing it though. Like even as just text, at one byte per character. (I think that's pretty much your minimum size for a single letter.

1 million letters to a MB, 1 billion to a gigabyte. So could there really only be 50 billion letters on the internet?

I frequent a message board with a total of 1.2 million posts. Take an average of 100 letters a post (which is too low) and that site would be .24% of the internet. Not likely.

I think the internet is bigger than we can possibly imagine.

I suppose so. The fact was from some project to allow people to 'download' the entire Internet and browse it offline. I'm not sure how far the project went.
