    RIP Fellow Software Engineer

Its terrible how a man can be pushed to the point of doing this.

    Plane Crash Suspect's Online Diatribe - February 18, 2010

He had some very valid views about America, the govenment and the rights of people to live, work and prosper.

Its sad people died, but a very brave man to stand up and die for his beliefs.

"Fear the man who has nothing to lose" RIP Joe Stack.

Maybe a brave man, but a very idiotic one too. I highly doubt the person he killed when he flew his plane into the IRS building was the one responsible for all his problems.. It is sad but wow, don't think he had to try do a 9/11 remake.

He was not brave. Far braver is the man who choses to live when the world is stacked against him. The man commited suicide which is the altamite act of cowerdice, If you choose to die a cowards death rather than have the balls to live, at least kill only yourself, don't make the inocent suffer with you.

^True that, but I believe that the soldiers who have fought wars and died for their countries are brave, especially the ones who fight in Afghanistan etc right now, they're risking their lives for what they believe in.. Well most of them I guess.

But that's a whole different story than committing suicide and taking an innocent person's life. BUT IT'S LIFE, we can't change what has already happened.

I agree about the soldiers. They are not choosing to die they are choosing to protect and risk their life. Someone who willingly takes their life as to not have to live it that is cowerdice.

I feel very sorry yet angry for people who want to take their own lives. Sorry that they think their only option is to quit this life, angry that they ruin their mothers/brothers/sisters/fathers/daughters/sons lives.
There was a case of a 15 year old, in my country, who committed suicide last Friday by drowning herself.. I wonder why she had so much to worry about at only 15.. What can cause someone to think their life was so bad at 15? So young and ignorant I guess.. Poor girl and her family.

^ Lots of teens commit suicide. Blame hormones. It's said to be the most "unstable" period of a person's life.. Can't disagree

Anyway, this is sad. That guy obviously had some ideas that he really believed in, so much that he decided to kill - both himself and others. Sad.

    Re: RIP Fellow Software Engineer

Im not sure its 100% suicide. Its more like an extreme protest after years of defending himself via lawful means.

While I dont agree with it, you have to relize people "in power" factor in negative responces from the public when making new polices. ie: the farmer doesn't want to upset the cows before slaughter. (Cows with Gun's is a great song)

If government and big business think no one will protest, then they will do what ever is best for the small greedy minority.

So while I dont agree with people doing this, or running riot tipping over cars, throwing molotov cocktails and trashing private property, I do see that violent protests are a valid response to unjust laws.

The only interesting thing about this topic is, how differently people from different countries behave when confronted by corrupt governments.

eg: The French love to roit, but here in Australia people act like we are sedated. People here are like "o, well another tax, bugger". "o, my we are off to war with America, guess thats ok", "o, gezz, jobs are going offshore, well at least I have some money for a beer. Yippy". Australians dont care about our rights because we are living sedated lives.

Again, while I feel sorry that innocent people die, I admire the men and women who die to protest against governments.

After all, it pails in comparison to how many innocent people are killed by Americans war machine.

PS: Its interesting that the media has taken comments in his letter out of context to paint the man as a crack pot. While at the same time the FBI took his site down preventing people from making up their own minds.

Meaning.... The media "is" the governments propaganda. You are all being lied too.

    Re: RIP Fellow Software Engineer

    su·i·cide (s-sd) KEY

    NOUN:

The act or an instance of intentionally killing oneself.
    It's suicide.

There are many ways to protest, killing inocent people is not the right choice. I don't understand how you can admire a murdering coward. I read his paper and yes I feel sorry for him but it is the same type of sympathy I give Hitler (whom i belive should have been disembowled wile alive and alert). Many people have suffered the same as him, yet I don't see them comiting unjustified murders. Not only did he murder inocent people but he was not man enouph to do it in a way to make him suffer the consiquences, he took his life quick and painless.

Why do you need something like this to solve the problem as you sugest? If the people are done with it they can just stop. Stop paying, stop working, just stop the financial system would grind to a stop and the goverment would have to take note. 9/11 did not do anything but start a war, what makes you think that a single mad man will do anything? There are uncorupt countries out there, why did the idiot not just pick up and move? He allowed his anger to control his logic like so many others out there.

    Re: RIP Fellow Software Engineer

Depends on the range of your sample. I beleive he was pushed to the end, and therefore took the only option avaliable.

From a statistical pov, its not suicide. My brother commited suicide and I was the one to take him to hospital before he died. I know the difference.

This man was protesting, and will forever live on for doing so.

i dont beleive he should have done it during business hours (ie: to minimize lifes lost), but I dont know why he did.

It is no more suicidal than going to war. He fought his battle.
