    Is it possible?

    If I have a shell will it be possible for me to use that as a proxy? I mean set up Firefox or IE with the IP of the shell server and the port of SSH or Telnet (22,23) and browse the net with it? because the shells have lynx but that wont support java coz I need to have java

    Yeah I know but is it possible?? just enter the Shell IP adress and the elnet port???

    No, you don't just enter the shell. You setup tunnels, putty is what I use. When you setup tunnels you generally use your local IP address as the socks server.

    From behind work I SSH into my server and use 127.0.0.1 on port 80 to forward my packets. Your server must have port forwarding enabled though.

    Is it possible if you make me a short step by step tutorial? thanks! coz I used Putty but a long time ago and I forgot how to set it up!!! thanks!
