Changing the icon

I downloaded some custom icons. But I had problems while changing individual folders on my SD card.. why is that?

And then I managed to change a Music folder icon, but it only changed temporary and then it just goes back to the default folder icon.

Any help?

Re: Changing the icon

Your SD card will probably not have changes stick, since the OS doesn't know if it's the same SD card each time.

Re: Changing the icon

Don't they have some id? I mean on windows, the first time you plugin something it installs the drivers.. but the next time it does not.. so it does detect it.. why is it impossible for Linux to detect it?

Re: Changing the icon

There's a difference between detecting the device type and the specific device.

Re: Changing the icon

Re: Changing the icon

The OS is seeing a known device type, but not necessarily the exact same device. Whether the OS will write a file to "remember" settings for that device will vary from OS to OS.
