Internal Error failed to initialize HAL!

When I turned on the computer (An Acer Aspire One running the Linux Lite), I get the following Error message.
"Internal Error failed to initialize HAL!"
I didn’t install any new programs. I shut it off after writing an email. When I turned it on back I am getting this message, I do not know what to do. Please help.

First of all, what is HAL? Is it really needed?

    Uh...yeah, not that easy.

HAL is a hardware abstraction layer used in all modern operating systems to present a level of abstraction to software in regards to the hardware its currently running on. Its kinda critical.

You will probably have to restore from the install disc.

Does that mean it's how the OS and Hardware interact?
