Well I am beginning Linux for the second time, hopefully going to actually get to learn it this time, and I don't know what distribution I should use.
Any ideas at all? What is your favourite distribution and why?
It depends on what I'm doing. For a basic day-to-day system on decent hardware, Ubuntu seems to work well. For a server or older hardware, I would tend to try other distros. I would stay away from D*mn Vulnerable Linux, however.
How many Linux distros have you got installed on your HDD?
Most Windows users tend to get along well with Ubuntu, so I suggest you try that. I like Sabayon and OpenSuse. Sabayon is graphics intense though and OpenSuse comes with YaST which is easy to use/configure.
Well I don't want anything heavily on graphics. So Ubuntu seems to be my Linux of choice.
Now I know that, I need to go around the forum and get some help on getting it too work.
Ubuntu is the most popular flavor of Linux on Distro Watch followed closely by OpenSuse. I bet you'll like it.
I don't like the colour scheme. So how can I change that?
What do you mean?
Like I don't like the orange colour.
Of Ubuntu? You just need to select a new Gnome theme.
On a side note, I'm in Sabayon Linux now. Just switched to it on my desktop as my primary OS. I'm not so fond of it now... There are many bugs in it. I'm going to use OpenSuse 11.1 now.
