Is there a specific directory that all the kernel files are put into? Or it's spread all around different folders?
I doubt there is a specific directory for the kernel to reside in.
All kernal files are present in the root directory. I think.. where all the system files are present.. Its what I know.. Rest our senior members can tell us better...

Not the root directory (/) but /boot. You can find the source in /usr/local/kernel/<version> I think although I do not know if that is correct. You have to install the source first though.
There is no directory for kernel.. I would like to know how we arrange and locate the files of Linux. I seem little out of place with the files in the Linux.
Jordan just said it's in the boot .. you guys are confusing me..
