    Leave only the kernel

Let's say that I want to be able to analyze (or whatever) the kernel of a Linux OS.. first of all I would like to remove all the other files.. from where would I begin? I mean... what files in an OS make the kernel? Is there a specific directory?

You can download the source files for the Kernel and compile all the files you need.

So I can download the kernel files only? From where can I get those.

Well, according to Winged it's the kernel plus some tools to help you download other packages etc...

And why downloading an OS and removing all those files.. when you can get the kernel straight away

What about it? What are you asking?

Nothing. He wants to analyze (or whatever) the kernel.. maybe the Minimal CD is good for him, because it does not contain many extra files.
