At work we have a LAN to share files stored into a server which uses windows 2000 and some machines of the workers are using Linux. When they try to access an excel file through the LAN from the server which is windows 2000, the linux machines are unable to open it, getting an error message, "file doesn’t exist”. Any tips?
Do you have Samba installed?
I think. If not I don't think we would be able to view Windows computers on the lan right? or not?
I'm not a Samba expert by any means, but having it installed and correctly configured would be the first two things I would look at.
Ok will have a look at it more closely... I thought that would come with the distro
