Hey guys,
I've spent several hours on this now, but I installed ubuntu 9.04. I have tried using the built in wireless card on my laptop, which isn't working, and I've tried installing my external linksys device as well. I can't get either of these two to install or work. At the end of last year, I was running ubuntu 8.XX or possibly 7.XX. I was wondering if ya'll could help me. I'll provide information, I just don't know what you'll need yet.
Thanks! FF
in the terminal try
sudo /etc/init.d/networking start
The make and model of your laptop would be gr8. laptops + wireless + Linux can be a good source of cussing, ripping out hair etc.
On the plus side - you're not alone. I had a devil of a job to get mine to work & eventually found a real easy way. I see that others are not as fortunate.
Post the details & I'll go and have a dig for you.
ubuntuforums <dot> org is an excellent site to go hunting on - there are plenty of postings on the subject of laptops and WiFi etc.
Regards,
Phill.
