OK, So I recently decided to try ubuntu on my PC. This was something that I had been planning for a long time, however I just recently bought the disk. I downloaded the ISO file onto my computer, and then used a software to burn the ISO onto the disk. When I restart the computer, the ubuntu icon comes up with a loading bar, after that a menu appears. The menu asks me how I would like to run, I select the run from disk. A mouse then appears on a black screen, and after that It changes to a mouse on a tan screen. This is as far as I get, do I have to wait a long time to continue past the tan screen?
I don't know
When it boots to the boot menu press I and then enter. This will take you into interactive mode and you may be able to see an error. Record it and let us know what the error is.
maybe you have a corrupted installer. try burning it again. I just downloaded ubuntu intrepid and was working fine with my vmware.
Not a bad idea either. I've come across a few corrupted downloads.
Maybe you should use torrents as an alternative to downloading your Ubuntu, i don't have much problems with downloading, its the using that gives me facepalm moments especially on beggining moments.
