    installing ubuntu with ntfs partitions

    hi all,
    im preparing for installing ubuntu as i was just doing that i noticed that it doesnt read NTFS partitons on my laptop, and most of the hard drives on my pc is NTFS, i also found that theres some kind of command that ill have to run every time i need to access the ntfs, is that right?
    so before i put the cd in and start the instalation i have some questions;
    1.can i install it on an NTFS partition?
    2. will the target partition be formatted?
    3. after installing wat commands will i have to run before accessing the NTFS partitions?
    4. will i have to run them each time i need them?

    5. the last one, what media player do you recommend for ubuntu(make sure the album cover appears in the menu)?
    thank you all, heres my disk drives

    On any new installation your NTFS should be detected and mounted automatically.

    1) No
    2) Yes
    3) You may have to mount it with mount /dev/<partition>
    4) If it isn't already mounted automatically you can add it to /etc/fstab to mount it on boot.
    5) There are many. Pic the one you like best after using a couple.

    You will be using LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) rather than WAMP or XAMPP. When you install them, make sure those services don't start at boot so they are only using resources when you want to use them. This means you will need to start them manually though.
