How's Linux on laptops? Does it run fine? What about the wireless and stuff like that?
I'm using Linux on my EEE PC via wifi as I post right now.
Yeah, but the EEE PC was designed for Linux, so that is 100% Linux Friendly... BUT on some laptops you might need to install some drivers etc for it to work properly.
Some distros don't detect the video card, other don't detect something else... unless you buy something designed for Linux like the EEE PC.
I think that linux detects most of the hardware straight away... I doubt that it should be a problem...
Yeah! I don't think it should be a problem man.
Get a laptop created for Linux if you have doubts. Didn't you post this question in another thread already?
No, this one is to see if I can install Linux on my current laptop (Running XP).. the other one was if it is possible to buy a new laptop with Linux already (or at least, Linux Friendly)
What distro are you planning to install?
I still have no idea, still looking into this...
The hardware on laptops that is most likely to cause issues is: internal modems and WiFi cards. Printers also tend to be very hit-or-miss.
