I'm on a different computer and trying to install Ubuntu as a virtual PC. I downloaded the ISO (32 bit) for Ubuntu 8 to my desktop. I then set the "CD" to capture an ISO. I boot and get the language screen plus the "boot" screen. I select "Try Ubuntu without any change to your computer" OR "Install Ubuntu" and receive this error:
"An unrecoverable processor error has been encountered. The virtual machine will reset now."
And the only option I have is "Reset". Anyone ran into this or know how to fix this error?
Most Linux versions (or all) don't work with Virtual PC. Another Microsoft feature...
I received the same error. I believe when MS bought it they removed all support for operating systems other than Windows. Figures. Use VMware.
Yup.. use VMWare. Although it's stupid for MS to restrict which OS should be installed on their VirtualPC...
Well, it's microsoft.. right?
They do all sort of stuff to restrict users use only their products... which is a shame on them!
True. But hey, what difference would that make them if a linux distro is installed virtually? I mean the user is still using windows as the main OS...
I'm trying to run the virtual machine with ubuntu, but i can't succeed.
I tried this
Ubuntu Virtual Machine - FixYa
It helped a bit, but it's still not perfect.
I don't think you can install Ubuntu on MS Virtual Machine. You can try vmware though, it works perfect on it without any problems at all.
