    Chainloader

Can anyone explain to me (in layman's terms) what the chainloader does in Grub/Lilo? I'm working on installing a Mac and it talks a lot about the chainloader on IBM pcs.

I don't know much about this, but I found something you may find useful in GRUB's manual: http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/man...2dloading.html

From what I understand the chainload just loads the boot manager of another OS/Partition. So, for Windows, it just loads the default boot manager which I have no idea what it is.

Does Windows have default boot managers? I thought it was all autoboot.
