I have been using Ubuntu on my other laptop since 8.10 as a secondary OS to windows. However, now I need to use it as a primary OS. I mostly uses it for web browsing and music only. So, I need a distribution that comes preinstalled with full Wi-Fi support and sound drivers. The 9.04 have the WIFI, but still no sound support, so I was wondering what I can do to get the sound support.. because a main OS without sound kinda sucks.
What is your sound card?
Hmm, I don't remember by heart.. is there a way I can check that? with maybe some terminal commands or something?
I know that Ubuntu's wifi support sucks. You should try Linux Mint as an alternative. It is 98% based on Ubuntu, but it has better looks, wifi support
You should keep with your current primary OS as your main OS 'till a fully functional version of Ubuntu comes out will full compatibility - you'll find after some time that Ubuntu get's annoying, and limited as to what you can do.
I just got a new laptop (Dell Vostro V13) with Ubuntu preinstalled and am very pleased with it. Ubuntu's a nice distro, though you have to be ready for a learning curve.
