It may be something to do with your installation. There are proceedures to follow with. If your bios recognize it it is a simple problem. There are rams which comes with defect. So find the root of the problem

Some computers does not accept certain Rams. Which company you are using?

how can I check on my BIOS? I can't see any RAM statistics or anything...

The problem seem to be minor and small change in the settings or reinserting the Ram could solve the problem..

try checking your bios if it was recognized or not. or you can just reinstall it again in your computer coz it might not be inserted properly.
