VirtualBox or vmware?

Which one performs better on a Linux Distro? And which one is simpler to install?

I've always used vmware with success. I've never heard of VirtualBox though. What is it?

A Virtual Machine, just like vmware etc...

VirtualBox looks fine. I've never used it but it is free so I say give it a shot!

My friend uses Virtual Box and I've seen him use it a couple of times. It looks and seems to run fine. I've never used it myself though.
