Will wine emulate games that require DirectX?
Does it have the required dll's etc?
Or I will have to install directx on wine before?
I once installed Battlefield 2 using Wine. It took a lot of time and configurations, but I got it working, and it ran pretty nice too (some minor graphics-bugs) I didn't have to install DirectX at all. Wine seemed to emulate it, or it may have the required files as default.
Well, I think that even if a game will not work, you can always install DirectX on Wine, can't you?
WINE has the default dll's integrated into it, so it should be able to run Windows applications.
if you patch it with the correct one. the only thing i knew to run a little bit well was max payne 2
What exactly is wine? How does it work and what is its relationship to game playing? This isn't something I have heard of before.
wine is a Windows API call interpreter, which allows Windows programs to run on Linux. Games are particularly popular for that![]()
There may be some unusable software but i guess you can run COD4 with it it you are patient enough.
