web.xml in a web application is a deployment descriptor file generally described as a DD. DD mainly consist of configurations for the servlets mappings (If you are using Tomcat) and many more.A web application is deployed through a DD . i hope it helps sania21:>Winning is not important but it is the only thing. |

True. It's important to remember, though, that different software might use files for different reasons. For example, it's possible that the DD is stored in another file, with the web.xml file used for other purposes.
