Arithmetic Expressions

This is a two part question: First, what are regular expressions, and two, what are arithmetic expressions. Do arithmetic expressions have anything to do with numbers?

An arithmetic expression is a type of regular expression that involves arithmetic. a regular expression is pretty much any legal expression in java.
