    Java versions

    I'm thinking of taking an online course in java but there are a few different courses for different versions of the language and I'm not sure what the differences are between the versions/courses. I've already started studying on my own using a book the covers Java 6. The courses on offer are
    • Java 1.1
    • Java 1.2
    • Java 2 Enterprise Design (J2EE)

    I've read the course information but no other info is given on the version of Java being used. The main thing I want avoid is studying an older/out of date version of Java.

    If there's a new way, I'll be the first in line.

    But, it better work this time.

    Java 2 includes Java 1.3-1.6

    Just wondering... Why would anyone would like to Java 1.1 and 1.2 now? Or maybe there were just old courses available there...?

    Possibly if they are going to be trying to extend or maintain existing systems written using the older versions.
