    Java Programming Help Needed

    Hello...new member here:

I'm looking for a Java programmer, or maybe just someone who's all-around-clever with a keyboard; someone who would be willing to help with a web-based hobby (LewisAire Virtual Airlines...I can't post the link here, but it's easy enough to find); we're based around the use of Microsoft Flight Simulator. We've been in full operation for nearly 6 years, which means we're not a start-up that's going to demand a great deal of your time. We're doing some restructuring, that's all, and I'd like to do a few things that are over my head as far as programming.

What I'm not looking for is a specific answer to a specific question: Rather, a programming sharpie who can be available some of the time and be part of things from the inside...our in-house guru, so to speak. Once you see what's going on (and what I'm trying to accomplish), most likely you'll have suggestions of your own, and I'm definitely receptive to that!

The downside is that we're a no-funds operation, so I can't pay you. But I can and will give you front-page billing on the website, and certainly post recommendations wherever you wish.

If someone is interested in this, please know that your efforts are sorely needed, and will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Who did your current work? It may be better for you to ask specific questions here on the forum. You are not likely to find anyone that would dedicate a portion of their time for no fee.

    Re: Java Programming Help Needed

    Thanks for the reply:

The website is built with Front Page, and I did that myself. What I'd like to do needs to be done in Java, and I'm no good at that. Actually, it's a few little "projects" that would require considerable one-on-one explanation and feedback, probably some tweaking...not a specific question looking for an answer. For example: One project is to try implenting Google Maps API for use with our regional map. It can be done, but I don't know even where/how to start. Another project is to develop some effective way to control files that we distribute (aircraft, scenery, etc); when a member leaves the airline, I want the files crippled.

No problem: Some forums are strictly "for hire" membership, and others are not. I'll try to find one that isn't full of professionals. Besides, if I wanted to pay someone, I'd hire a programmer down the street or somewhere local.

    Thanks for you time.

Are you sure you need Java to do what you are looking for? From your example project, it sounds like you need a server side language such as ASP, PHP, Ruby, etc. I suppose you could use Java Server Pages.
