What does file link do?

When I add a new file release I have the option to select "
(Select No for Link)" at the bottom of the form. What does this do?

If you select No the download will become a link meaning you could add a URL to a download page that is not on your domain.

If you wanted to send the user to an external download page, like Microsoft Download, this would be how you do it. An example would be on the CC downloads at CodeCall Programming - click on any of the Microsoft Visual products near the bottom.

The difference in code is that selecting "No" will forward the user to the new link where selecting "Yes" will cause a download (without opening the download) to the users computer.
