My name is Sam, I am from Quebec in Canada. I just recently got interested in programming although I've been wanting to learn for a long time. I kinda lost interest in video games and I'm looking for something to occupy myself so I don't die of boredom and programming seems to be what I'd like to do. I know very little about programming, almost nothing in fact, but I know a lot about computers in general and how they work, etc.
Also, I'd really appreciate if you guys could give me your opinion as of where I should start from, which languages to learn first, what do to before trying to learn a language, etc.
Thanks and see you on the forums!![]()
Welcome to CodeCall.
And I would start with VB.NET or Python.![]()

Science is only an educated theory, which we cannot disprove.

Cheers and welcome to codecall. Seeing how i more or less started out with python and haven't regretted doing so i would recommend it to you too.
Python have rich documentation and is easy on the programmer. This is great when your just starting out programming as you can see results faster. And when you've learned python jumping into other languages should be less of a tedious task.
Saying all this I'm trying to write a tutorial about python, atm it's quite lacking but you might want to check it out and give some feedback.
Thanks! Another vote for Python, I'll definitively look into it![]()
Well, I would start with ruby. I found it very easy to learn and it has awesome syntax and great documentation. It's also not indentation based. For example, here is the famous hello world program in ruby.
Code:puts "Hello world!"
Hi Azrian
