I tried VWD, but I couldn't find the option to create a web which was HTML only... the only options I had were ASP.NET related. Which is alright... but I use the webspace provided by my ISP which doesn't have any other functionality but for the basics

You can easily use VWD with HTML only. Just start a blank website. Then, go to Add New Item and choose HTML pages - it allows you to edit them with similar power to Dreamweaver.

Ah right, I've just tried that now. For some reason I didn't see the "Empty Web Site" option when I looked the other day (can't understand how I missed it)

Looks good though, and seems like Dreamweaver but with an influence from Visual Studio.

My web site I made for class didn't look that great. I made it in Dream Weaver and I just got so frustrated with Dreamweaver, that I made it look simple.

Layouts in dream weaver get me so frustrated. I prefer to use a text editor that has syntax highlighting and allows you to edit multiple files in one window.

I might use dream weaver, for the more complicated things if I'm in a hurry but I prefer the text editors because I can do anything that I want to.
