If your into using notepad, I suggest using notepad++ it's way better and makes your desktop less cluttered.

You mean with the tabs and all that? Yes, I agree. Plus, you get syntax highlghting thrown in, all for free.

Yes the tabs are awesome, the only thing i don't like is having to browse to save the directory you want to save in every time.

Although I take this opportunity to point out VWD, which can:

@ display things in tabs.
@ highlight syntax.
@ use autolists. For example, if you type "<td " it automatically pops up with a list of all the available attributes, for easy typing.
@ automatically complete tags.
@ validate code and display squiggly lines for errors.
@ upload/download from FTP locations.
@ write using a WYSIWIG if necessary.
@ be free.

See what I mean? Pretty good, if you ask me.

you can use that if you something powerful but if you want the most powerful simple tool, notepad++ is definitely best.

Well, I'm not much into there tools. Lately I've been coding my website in TextPad.

I try not to use Microsoft software for web pages because I feel the pages are made by the software to look good in Internet Explorer and nothing else.

TextPad is not a Microsoft software. Besides that, although Notepad is.. it doesn't make the pages IE compatible

I once saw someone @ CodeCall that wrote pages in MS Publisher... boy did it fail W3C validation...

But VWD makes pages good for IE.

Publisher isn't good for web pages, while you can make pages with it, it makes your code impossible to understand.
