lol, sorry about the title, but i felt it was needed to get some views.
I am new to web design/coding and I heard that this was the best place to come for help. last night i was messing around with photoshop and dreamwaver and i threw tgether a quick site as a test to teach myself how to do everything that is involved in web design (designed in photoshop, coded in dreamweaver, uploaded in the server's control panel, etc..) I went to upload it and everything was going nicely and the site works fine. BUT, when i go to load any page on the site, it loads in sections so that while it is loading there r empty black spots on the page but they fill in knda slowly.
Here is the site so you can see for yourself: index
does any1 know how i can make it load smoothly all together or if there is something i ave to do while designing/coding/uploading to make it load better?
please let me know,
thanks

Well if I understood you correctly, well it is a problem that you are using big pictures and therefore slowly to load on slow connections.
when u click the link that i posted, does it load slowly for you? cuz maybe then its just my connection, but there is no way for me to tell unless people on different connections tell me what they see. But what do i do to make the pictures not as "big"? Am i saving it as the wrong filetype (.gif) or is the resolution of the web page too high?
The images are huge, that is why it loads so slow. Compress them and make them smaller. Also, it looks like the entire page is images, you might consider using tables and css to do some of the work you've created.
I would recommend you to use JPG, as they can (if you let them) have the same quality of gifs in smaller size, and no it did not load slowly, took like 3 to 5 seconds on my 2mb connection but I could see the black boxes filling up with the image. I would recommend you to fix that, or it will decrease the users![]()
