Project guidance required

I m new to this forum and google landed me here like many more . I have to make some college project this year ( have lots of time for it ! ) . I know basics of c/c++/java/asp/html/css . I have a topic in mind

Basic search engine for a website ( not search engine for full internet ) . I think this an be done by using php/mysql . I don't know where to start for something like this so need some tips/guidance/help . Any other project topics also welcome .

If the site' small, you can just have an index of all the pages, and then just search for them. Of course, you'll need a decent GUI as well to receive the input and display it.

Yep i am aware of the display part , its easy using php/asp ( getting stuff from database and displaying them with some eye candy ) . What i need is proper way to parse the html pages and how to store them in database ( keywords ? ) . I searched a bit and found some html parsing scripts for php which can be used . I am looking for some overview on how this works .. like what needs to be saved and what searching algorithms should be used . Thanks for tips

No probs. You might want to look into Regular Expressions if you're parsing HTML files, using the preg_match() function. But that's probably what you found anyway.
