Dude how much something is used and how people to choose to use it does not dictate it's versatility.

Of course it does... we don't live in a vacuum... But your right... Brainf*ck does appear to be "challenging"... about as challenging as jumping of a bridge and landing on your feet... just about as pointless too... jmo...

What are you talking about? The way people use something does not effect it's actually versatility.

Example. A vehicle is capable of being used underwater and on land. However the owner only uses it on land. Does this change the fact that it can be used underwater. Of course it doesn't.

Versatility is defined by the language it's self, not by how people choose to use it.

I really don't feel like commenting on your last point, but I feel like I am propelled to. Obviously brainf*ck is not used for normal application purposes. It is a proof of concept, esoteric language, you code in brainf*ck because you want to challenge your mind, expand your intelligence.

So basically yeah.

If a Jeep and a Hummer were parked side by side... does the fact that the jeep requires no key to drive it make it more versatile for the average GI passerby at wartime? Or is the hummer more versatile because it has engineering excellence to back it?

Versatility is a tough one to define... but for all intensive purposes... php is an extremely versatile language... especially in todays online business marketplace... is there any other marketplace that matters?

I agree about brainf*ck... it looks challenging... but it really doesn't have any practical use nor do I think learning it would translate to any improvement of knowledge or skill in any other area... that's all... it looks fun though... but so is jumping off a bridge and trying to land on your feet...( you'll probably only do it once )

What are you talking about, brainf*ck can definitely increase one's logic skills.

LOL ALSO YOU DEFENDED MY POINT. You are saying that the way that the Hummer was engineered makes it more versatile, that's exactly what I said. I said the way a language is/developed defines it's versatility.

Lol give it up.

Versatility is obviously defined by how something is created. Don't believe me here is the definition.

2. having or capable of many uses: a versatile tool.
Having or being capable of, those are possibilities, not actualities. Give it up. It's over.

Wow, I really have no answer for a comment as ignorant as that. Maybe you should get out of your tiny world sometimes and realize that your beloved php is only good for server-side applications. For any other purpose I could name a much better one, C or C++ or Python or Perl or Lisp or Javascript or XHTML. The online business marketplace is just one tiny niche compared to the hundreds of applications that languages like C++ or Python are suitable and are actually used for. Don't be so bigheaded.
