Command Line VS Window Programs

What is faster in calculations etc..? a window application or a command line application?

There is no difference in the calculations, there's only a difference in how you handle the results of the calculations. It's faster to output something through CLI, than through GUI.

It's a million times easier to code CLI interfaces than it is GUI interfaces. If you don't need pretty graphics I'd go CLI, especially for pure calculations.

Then again for pure calculations I'd probably use something like Haskell and take advantage of the REPL.

Well I am referring to for example calculating the PI to a few hundreds of decimal places, which will be faster.. CLI or GUI?

CLI marginally. The time saved in coding it up will probably be greater than the time saved in executing it.

Which method are you using to calculate PI? That will be far and away the biggest concern in terms of speed.

No methods - I just gave example so you could understand my question.
