Default A General Idea about programming

i have an idea which i believe can make learning to program a much easier task for all those who are involved.

youll have to excuse me if something like this already exists.
and if it does please direct me to it

i've noticed that one of the best ways of improving knowledge and skill in a programming language is creating specific programs for specific goals. solving problems, exercises, chalanges or whatever you'd like to call it.

how about making a data base of problems and tasks that by solving them you practice and improve your knowledge?

from the scratch knowledge i have in programming, i can already tell for example that this database should have tasks divided into using different libraries and classes. they also should be arranged by difficulty.

also it should have different types of solutions to those exercises.

i think that something like this would make programming much easier and enjoyable to learn.

now two main questions present themselves:

1. does something like this exists?
2. who how and where should it be started?

i would love to hear some responses to this idea.

and aggain i must appologize if this idea isnt new and already exists for embarrassing myself with my lack of knowledge in the field.

This is indeed an interesting project, but it's not an innovation, unfortunately. I've seen different sites with a purpose of collecting all kinds of different exercises for programming - in different languages, and from easy to hard. Right now, at the time of this writing, I can only remember one of them, and it's SPOJ. It's said to have over 1.000+ different exercises, for all languages.

It's still, in my opinion, an interesting project. Like you see on pages like SPOJ, the content is not very well organized. It's one long list, and it's hard to see if the exercises are easy or hard, etc. If you somehow could organize it better, after if it's easy, hard, medium and maybe after languages, and so on, then it would be good.

Good luck!

Default Thank you for the reply :)

i have more ideas about how to make this efficient and productive.

first i think ill generalize them and form a document. and then ill post it here in some form. maybe some people would like to contribute some time and effort

thanks again for what you stated and the link which ill check a bit later

I'll wait for the document, and see what you're coming up with!
