I had to re-install Visual Studio 2005 because it "broke". Good Job MS. Anyway, during re-install the last component to install is Microsoft Device emulator. What is this?
I got excited, I thought this was a true emulator for something like PDAs or Smartphones. To my disappointment I learned:
The Microsoft Device Emulator 1.0 is a standalone version of the same ARM based Device Emulator that ships as part of Visual Studio 2005. The standalone emulator is intended for situations when you want to demonstrate or test your application on a computer that does not have Visual Studio 2005 installed. In addition, we are offering the Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP operating system images that you can use with the Device Emulator.
It does offer Mobile Emulation - Read the last sentence:
In addition, we are offering the Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP [COLOR=#009900 ! important][COLOR=#009900 ! important]operating [COLOR=#009900 ! important]system[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] images that you can use with the Device Emulator.
Sometimes things sound a lot better than they really are. It's disappointing.
