Ok, first off I am some what new to programing. I messed with it a bit when i was in high school, but i dont remember any of it. What i am hoping to find is a sdk that i can us to create software for a robotics project of sorts. The software will be ran under linux for both the development and linux will be the main operating system for the robotics computer. Being a user of linux i am also a supporter of the FSM, so the freer the better. This unit will also be interfacing with several external components that need to integrated into the software (cameras, ir sensors, thermal and pressure sensors, etc.). I know for a newbie this sounds like a lot, and trust me it is, but i am more than willing to learn and spend the time needed to learn. Thanks in advance for the help.
First you need to pick a language. Given that you're doing robotics, it seems likely that your interfaces will be in C or C++ libraries.
I was thinking maybe python. I hear that it is easy to learn and to use, just dont know how well it will work with what i am doing. I am hoping to find a language that will allow me to easily create a graphic user interface, as down the line others will be able to input data and have the "robot" execute. If it helps for me to give more detail about what the project is and how it is to function, i can provide more info.
