Well... I know Visual Basic, but it has many limitations. Java I've heard is complicated and a little unnecessary since there is C++. C# looks interesting. I might get there next.

C# is almost the same syntax as Java, but with .NET.

I hate Vb sintax , ironically I mostly work in VB

That was the case some years ago , but not now

Java Speed Benchmark

It does feel a little slow at startup, but still its pretty fast

Where Java struggles is with non-native widgets. These do have a serious performance draw back. Nothing I can't live with.

Since I moved to a controller based set up for GUI's (to make unit testing of UI logic possible) it's been trivial to move from one widget set to another in any case.
