If I write a script to post 209 consecutive posts, do I get extra points for ingenuity/obviousness .

With great technology, comes great responsibility.

Don't make God flood the earth again, naughty boys.

The next Java release could be very interesting and should close some of the more painful gaps with .Net.

They are planning whole hosts of JVM features meant to support dynamic languages like Ruby, Python, etc*. There's talk of precompiling like .Net can, so start up speed and overall performance should improve. They are replacing the default GC with one that performs better in general. Also the big debate over closures might result in Java being fixed on this count (if Gosling had ignored the pure OOP people and gone with closures instead of inner classes the world would be a much better place right now).

*right now JRuby performs on about a par with Ruby 1.9. With the new dynamic features JRuby should then outperform it's native equivalent.

I just hope VB, Java, and C# are similar else I'm gonna be one confused puppy once I go into my Java and C classes since I just took 3 classes in back to back semesters of VB.

They are similar enough, the only differences will be that VB and C# use a different class library to Java and C# has stronger generics and annotations (the former you probably won't notice, the later you may not even use) to Java and has some first class functional aspects that are not in Java yet.

You can however program in an equivalent object oriented style in any of the three. Then the only issue is syntax but that's not nearly as difficult a problem as understanding the fundamentals behind it.
